Engine is not wired and steering components are not hooked up to the boat. Also comes with the throttle and wires for motor but they should all be re done. Its the old cable and pulley style steering so will need to be fixed or updated. ![]() The boat itself is in nice shape with no major cracks anywhere. These are the only ones that I had available. If interested call or text me and I can send better pictures. Most of the wires are frayed but last time i checked it had spark and had near perfect compression 140lbs +. I paid $400 for the motor alone! all it needs is the wiring to be gone over. Might need to adjust the height of the motor since i believe the old one was a short shaft. Has a newer 1981 ish mercury 40 hp long shaft motor on the back. The thru-hull for the prop shaft has been bored, and the engine, prop shaft, tube/packing glands/strut-cutlass bearing come next to finish her out of water work.Hello All, I have a 1961 Johnson Runabout boat in fairly descent shape. Below the waterline has been painted and sealed and will be final coat bottom painted right before she goes back in the water. The entire boat has been painted, with the Topsides being finished this week. There was rot in the deadwood at the prop shaft. The chainplates have been replaced with new, the masts and booms have been refinished, and 40 ribs have been laminated in using quarter-inch marine ply. WHIRLWIND was cold-molded in western red cedar, two layers at 45-degree angle, using plastic staples. Originally commissioned as a one-design by Stu Babcock of Dana Point, California. Built in the Chapman-Kalayjian yard of Costa Mesa in 1956. Ideal for off-shore, or coastal cruising. This yacht is an excellent example of the famous West Coast yacht designer's custom yawl. Over the next few weeks, The hatches are being refinished, the brightwork will be refinished and we will update photos again The masts will be stepped, and the engine installed around July 7th, 2018. The last 2 photos in the gallery are what she used to look like. The Majority of the photos were taken July 3, 2018. Work will continue unless you're looking for a fantastic boat for you to experience putting the finishing touches on her. The Hatches have been refinished and reinstalled. The Masts are in place and the engine has been placed into the engine compartment. A few at the top of the gallery and the rest at the bottom. New Photos of Whirlwind have been added to the gallery. It should be completely finished by the end of the first week of March 2020. Old caulk reefed out, loose screws replaced, missing bungs replaced, sanded, new caulking and the deck is completely oiled. The decks on the 45' yawl WHIRLWIND are now being refinished. ![]() The cockpit seats are being removed to install the fuel tanks and replace some cabin bulkheads. The engine is almost completely installed. (See Photos at the end of the photo Gallery) The 3 Cylinder Yanmar Engine has been installed. This is a one of a kind classic yawl designed by the world-famous William Garden. There was a leak in one of the fuel tanks that remains to be repaired. The water and fuel tanks have been removed of course, but all are intact. There is a full complement of sails, cushions, etc. The hull has been faired with longboards. The work remaining on the boat is principally cosmetic. This multiple wooden boat owner is interested in all offers.
